It's been a while since I posted a new entry - sorry to those of you who find your only entertainment in reading my blogs
.
First of all, I finally mustered up the courage in July to sign up for the SAT test, to be taken October 6th. Well, October 6th has come and gone, and I'm officially done with taking the SAT! The results are not in however, and when people ask me how I think I did, I reply: "I've no idea! I could be 100% sure I got this or that question right but be 100% wrong." And that is the answer I shall give you. I've frankly have no idea how well I did. The test time went 45 minutes over the normal time, from people being late, etc. grrr...But it's alright I guess. The test administrator was the High School's guidance counselor, and clearly wasn't used to "administering" the SAT...For one thing, after telling us how we would be "kicked" out of the test if we used or had our cell phones on, HER phone went off..."hahahaha, good riddance!" popped into my mind when that happened.
As for what I'll do after High, the jury's still out. I'm confused, frustrated and stressed, all to be expected. As college is to expensive (waaah!!!), the Air Force is looking more and more appealing. But I won't say anything definite. yet.
And now for my current 2 Top five Lists w/ reviews:
Movies I've recently watched that I love:
1. Before Sunrise
- This movie was mostly two people talking, which might strike you as boring, but it's really amazing dialog exchanged between two great actors in beautiful Vienna. Lovely, simply lovely!
2. Hotel Rwanda
- If you haven't seen this movie, do so very soon! It'll open your eyes (If they haven't been already) to a crime against humanity that happened in the early '90s. Most of America and the free world ignored the genocide - so we should have our noses rubbed in what we allowed to happen, especially France who actually supplied the forces who slaughtered countless people. Even though this movie deals with events that are gory, the movie itself isn't very gory, although it remains true to what happened in Rwanda.
3. Lord of War
- This movie is about an illegal arms dealer who, along with many others took leftover war supplies from Russia after the Cold War and sold them all over the world, but mainly to rebels in Africa who then used the weapons and other "supplies" to kill innocent Africans. This movie will also educate you not only about how evil arms traders are, but how the Interpol work. (I love those guys - best police force in the world!!)
4. Gattaca
It's so fascinating that this movie was made in the mid '90s and has proved to be astoundingly prophetic. It dealt with the subject of genetic engineering long before it was something people were talking about. This film is about a man who grows up knowing that since he wasn't genetically engineered by scientists, he never even stands a chance of becoming much more that a janitor. He has to switch identities with a more "perfectly made" man in order to pursue becoming an astronaut. Highly underrated movie but it's so great!
5. Renaissance Man
Danny DeVito teaches Army trainees - need I say more?
Movies I've recently watched that I HATE:
1. American Psycho
BORING and way too graphic in every sense of the word.
2. The Talented Mr. Ripley
Took too flippin long to get anywhere which it never got to anyway. :P
3. A History of Violence
Basically bad for the same reason I though American Psycho was bad. Did have some redeeming qualities like some good twists, but overall a stinker.
4. The Astronaut's Wife
Never thought I would totally hate a movie with Johnny Depp in it - but it's happened.
5. The Remains of the Day
Don't ya just hate it when you waste time on a boring movie???
